Three years on from the debut of the H247-generation GLA-based Mercedes-AMG GLA45, the high-performance crossover from the German manufacturer’s performance division gets its mid-lifecycle update, making its debut in sole GLA45S 4Matic+ form.
The heart of the machine continues to be the 1,991 cc M139 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol inline-four cylinder engine, that outputs 421 PS at 6,750 rpm and 500 Nm of torque from 5,000 rpm to 5,250 rpm, with these outputs sent to all four wheels via the 4Matic+ fully variable all-wheel-drive system, featuring AMG Torque Control and the eight-speed AMG Speedshift DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Thus equipped, the GLA45S 4Matic does the 0-100 km/h benchmark sprint in 4.3 seconds, going on to a top speed of 270 km/h, unchanged from its pre-facelift iteration. Combined fuel consumption is 10.0 l/100 km, and combined CO2 emissions is 227 g/km.
Exterior updates that feature on the facelifted GLA45S 4Matic+ include a new front apron design with the AMG crest on the bonnet, body-coloured wheel arch extensions, a new light signature design for its LED headlamps and tail lamps (Multibeam LED headlamps are optional), while a choice of three wheel design options are offered, ranging from 19 to 21 inches in diameter.
Inside, the GLA45S 4Matic+ facelift offers a choice of standard sports seats or the optional AMG Performance seats, where the Artico synthetic leather and Microcut microfibre upgholstery can be specified in Bahia Brown. The driver now gets the latest generation AMG Performance multi-function steering wheel.
New colours for the Artico leather are Sage Grey and Black, while a Red Pepper and Black combination is available for the seats. Trim elements in the GLA45S 4Matic+ now include the optional open-pore lime wood.
Infotainment in the GLA45S 4Matic+ facelift has been updated to receive the latest MBUX infotainment setup that supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while hardware connections include higher-output USB charging ports and an additional USB-C port.
