ParkEasy has announced that it will switch Shell Recharge AC charging sites to kWh-based pricing in phases starting from today (November 1, 2023). With this, users will only pay for the energy they use, similar to other EVCS-licenced charging locations in the country, and not by how long their car is plugged in.
According to the Energy Commission’s list of EVCS (Electric Vehicle Charging System) licensees, there are currently 33 locations with AC chargers operated by Pixelbyte (the company behind ParkEasy) that have been awarded the EVCS licence.
As for how much you need to pay to use Shell Recharge AC chargers under the new pricing scheme – at a rate of RM1 for one ParkEasy credit – there is an initial confirmation fee of four credits. For the actual charging itself, it’s one credit per kWh.
There’s also an idling fee (the duration that your car is occupying the bay but not charging) of one credit every 30 minutes, which comes after the first 15 minutes of idling that is not charged.
