Chery Malaysia has revealed via a Facebook post that there are currently 22 Chery service centres in the country, with 21 being located in Peninsular Malaysia and one in Kuching, Sarawak. The company says more service centres will be launched, likely in advance of new model launches.
At present, the Chery line-up here consists of just two models, namely the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro – both were launched in July this year. Last month, it was revealed by the company that three new SUVs over the next two years.
These are the Omoda 9, which is a different name for the Exeed RX, along with a new product series that includes the Jaecoo 7 and 8 – find out more about them here. All three will be locally assembled (CKD) in Malaysia – likely at the Inokom plant in Kulim, Kedah – although there is also a potential of Chery Malaysia setting up its own production facility.
Chery’s new Exlantix line-up of EVs are also under consideration for our market and is led by the ET SUV and ES sedan. On the mention of EVs, the Omoda 5 EV will be launched in Malaysia next year as a fully-imported (CBU) model, with no word on whether it will go the CKD route.
