2023 MINI Clubman Final Edition launched in Malaysia – unique design cues; only 20 units; from RM308k

MINI Malaysia has officially launched the MINI Clubman Final Edition, which serves as a swansong for the brand’s small barn-doored estate model that won’t return for another generation. Only 1,969 units will be produced for the entire world, with Malaysia receiving an allocation of 20 units, making the Clubman Final Edition rather exclusive.

Based on the existing Cooper S variant of the Clubman, the Final Edition retails for RM308,488 on-the-road without insurance. This is with a standard two-year warranty, and if you want the four-year extended warranty and service package, the price goes up to RM318,888.

For context, the Final Edition is RM5,100 more than a regular Clubman S, or RM6,000 with the extended warranty and service package. The premium nets you some special design touches that are meant to celebrate the very first Clubman introduced in 1969.

At the front, you’ll find Shimmer Copper trim on the grille, with the same hue also used for the accent stripes on the bonnet, sides and one of the rearmost doors. The side scuttles are also unique as they feature the ‘1969 Final Edition’, while near the C-pillars is a ‘1 of 1969’ badge.

Other reminders that this is a celebratory model include ‘Final Edition’ wording at the rear and a bespoke set of 18-inch Final Edition Spoke two-tone alloy wheels. Tying everything together are piano black accents on the headlamp and taillight surrounds, door handles and exhaust tips. You can order the Final Edition in a choice of three exterior colours, namely Nanuq White, Melting Silver III and Enigmatic Black.

Inside, the Nappa leather steering wheel receives a ‘Final Edition’ emblem and is joined by velour floor mats bearing ‘1 of 1969’ as well as model-specific door sills. The seats are upholstered in a combination of MINI Yours sport-inspired pique fabric and Dark Maroon leather, accompanied by contrast stitching and piping. The lasered rivets on them come in either Shimmer Copper or Enigmatic Black.

Standard kit for the Final Edition is similar to the Cooper S variant, with Comfort Access, dual-zone climate control, a reverse camera, Parking Assistant, a Harman Kardon sound system and Driving Assistant (high beam assist, speed limit info, pedestrian warning and approach control warning with light city braking function) as well as cruise control with braking function being standard.

One difference is the upgraded 8.8-inch touchscreen for the MINI Navigation System that supports Apple CarPlay, which is larger than the Cooper S’ 6.5-inch unit. No change to the powertrain, with a 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine providing 192 PS (189 hp or 141 kW) and 280 Nm of torque. Drive is sent the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of 7.2 seconds and top speed of 228 km/h.

Each purchase comes with MINI Malaysia’s 5-Year Roadside Assistance programme that includes 24-hour, 365 days-a-year emergency hotline, free towing services, replacement vehicle, seamless mobility, accommodation, mobility services solutions as well as repatriation services.
