A pair of new Ford variants, specifically from the Ranger and Everest models appear set for unveiling on the Malaysian market soon, as suggested by the teaser post on the Ford Malaysia Facebook page. With a little help from software, we’ve managed to get a better look at the duo that’s headed our way.
As it emerges, in the darkened images which we’ve stitched together here are the Ranger Platinum and the Everest Wildtrak. Both are variants which have gone on sale in Australia; the Ranger Platinum arrived Down Under with prices from A$76,990 (RM230,467) in December last year, while according to Car Expert, the Everest Wildtrak starts from A$73,090 (RM223,410) before on-road costs.
In Australia, the Platinum trim level for the Ranger double-cab pick-up truck is offered solely with a 3.0L V6 turbodiesel that outputs 250 PS and 600 Nm of torque, which is mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox and electronically controlled four-wheel-drive.
We will see for sure upon its unveiling, but from this image the Ranger Platinum also appears to sport thicker roof rails which work with a sliding load rack system, as shown in images on the Ford Australia website for this variant. A similarly kitted variant in Thailand is the Stormtrak that gets the 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel powertrain, as opposed to the V6 turbodiesel for the Australian market Platinum. There’s more chrome here, too.
Meanwhile, the Everest Wildtrak that has also been teased here is sold in Thailand with the 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel, while Australia gets the 3.0L V6 turbodiesel; the former with 210 PS and 500 Nm is the most likely choice for the Malaysian market as this already features in the existing Ranger and Everest variants on sale. The Ranger Raptor with the diesel launched in Malaysia in June this year.
Par for the Wildtrak course on the Everest, as with the Ranger, will be the Luxe Yellow signature exterior paint colour, along with a Wildtrak-specific grille and front bumper, black wheel arch trim, Wildtrak exterior badging, machined 20-inch alloy wheels, while the interior gets orange contrast stitching and embossed ‘Wildtrak’ seat logos.
A launch for these variants won’t be far away, as suggested by said Facebook teaser, so stay tuned. Which of these would you prefer?
