The Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) Vuong Dinh Hue touched down in Cambodia on Saturday morning to start a five-day visit until Wednesday next week.

Upon arrival, Hue laid wreaths at the Independence Monument and the Royal Memorial Statue of the late King Father Norodom Sihanouk and the Cambodia-Vietnam friendship monument and met bilaterally with Cambodian NA president Heng Samrin.

The bilateral meeting is aimed at strengthening and expanding friendship and cooperation between the legislative institutions of the two countries.

It also aims to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the diplomatic relation establishment between the two countries, defined as the “Cambodia-Vietnam friendship year”.

After the meeting, the two sides will sign a memorandum of understanding between the Cambodian and Vietnamese NA and between the Cambodian NA general secretary and the Vietnamese NA cabinet, according to the Cambodian NA press release on November 18.

Hue will meet King Norodom Sihamoni, Senate president Say Chhum, and Prime Minister Hun Sen, it said.

Hue will attend the general assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) hosted by Cambodia in Phnom Penh from November 20-25.
